Real-Time Plant Operations Dashboards

Issue:

Leadership of a PE-backed pulp mill was not meeting customer demand. They needed real-time visibility of key operational KPIs along the steps of the manufacturing process to uncover the operational inefficiencies. Their existing process required reaching out to several operators to understand ongoing issues, delays, bottlenecks in the process and estimated production for the day.


Solution:

Collected, cleaned, and analyzed data from multiple databases to build 8 dashboards in PowerBI with over 50 KPIs, charts, tables and graphs that update every 5-10 minutes to create a digital twin of the manufacturing process. Worked with data engineering team to connect data sources and dashboards to cloud-based backend.


Impact:

Increased pulp production efficiency by 10%, increasing revenues by $3M annually.
